During your Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Ri trek, you’ll stay in lodges for 14 nights in the Everest region.

This includes 2 nights in Lukla, Dinbouche, and Namche (3 nights) with private attached bathrooms and remaining nights in standard rooms at other locations. Hot showers and Wi-Fi may be available at lower altitude with an extra cost. Accommodation in Kathmandu before or after the trek is not included. You can choose from various hotels in Kathmandu that suit your budget.

Food

Given the high-altitude trekking, your meals will be rich in carbohydrates, proteins, and minerals. 

We’ll provide nutritious food suitable for trekking, including 15 breakfasts, 15 lunches, and 14 dinners during the trek. The menu will offer a mix of local, Asian, and Western cuisine, though options may decrease as we ascend. To prevent altitude sickness, we recommend consuming drinks like tea, garlic soup, and fresh vegetables. It’s advised to avoid non-vegetarian, dairy, alcoholic, and caffeinated drinks, as well as hot chocolates, due to hygiene concerns. 

Our 16-day EBC with Gokyo Ri package covers only standard meals and excludes alcoholic, hot (tea, coffee), and cold drinks available at tea houses/lodges or cafes.

    As soon as you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from the Trek and Adventure Nepal team will be at the airport to warmly welcome you.

    Our team will transport you to the hotel where you’ll rest. It is up to you whether you want to explore the bustling city of Kathmandu or just sit at the hotel.

    During the team dinner, you’ll get your Everest base camp trek with Gokyo Ri briefing, and get to know your fellow trekkers and guide.

    Alright, let’s kick off this epic EBC via Gokyo Ri adventure! 

    Today, you’ll board a tiny plane, ready to fly above the clouds toward Lukla, the gateway to Everest. 

    As you peer out the window, the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas come into view, painting a breathtaking panorama. Landing in Lukla will feel like touching down in a whole new world—surrounded by towering mountains and crisp mountain air.

    Now, here’s where the fun begins. 

    You meet your fellow trekkers and the friendly porters who’ll be your trusty companions on this journey. Together, you set out on foot, trekking through quaint villages and crossing sturdy suspension bridges adorned with colorful prayer flags. 

    Keep an eye out for yaks and horses laden with supplies, which add an extra dimension to your Everest base camp trek. After a few hours of trekking, you will reach Phakding, a cozy village across the Dudh Koshi River.     Your journey takes you through the legendary Sagarmatha National Park, where you’ll pause to register your permits. Keep your eyes peeled as we ascend through dense forests—you might catch your first glimpse of mighty Mt. Everest peeking through the trees.

    But the real highlight of today’s trek? Namche Bazaar. 

    This bustling mountain town is like something out of a storybook located on the steep slopes of the Himalayas. As you arrive, you’ll feel the energy of the place: the bustling markets, cozy bakeries, and friendly locals going about their day.

  • Day 03: Acclimatization day at Namche and explore Namche Bazaar

    A chance to catch our breath and let our bodies adjust to the altitude. 

    Today is all about acclimatization, and Namche Bazaar is the perfect place for it.

    With the sunrise, Namche comes alive with the buzz of activity. This vibrant mountain town has something for everyone. Whether you’re craving a steaming hot coffee at one of the cozy cafes or hunting down the perfect souvenir to remember your trek by. Namche is the place for it.

    But the real magic of Namche lies in its rich culture and history. 

    Take a stroll through the streets, and you’ll be surrounded by traditional Sherpa settlements, their colorful prayer flags fluttering in the mountain breeze. Visit the Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Center, or the Hillary School to see the impact of Sir Edmund Hillary’s legacy on the local community.

    For those feeling adventurous, why not explore the surrounding hillsides? 

    You might stumble upon yak farms clinging to the mountainsides or ancient Buddhist monasteries hidden among the peaks.

    After fueling up with a hearty breakfast in Namche, we’ll set off on a journey that promises some of the most breathtaking views the Himalayas offer. As we hit the trail towards 

    Tengboche, prepare to have your breath taken away—both by the stunning scenery and the altitude gain.

    The path winds through dense pine forests, offering glimpses of majestic peaks like Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Nuptse peeking through the trees. Keep your eyes open for musk deer, Himalayan Thar, and vibrant pheasants that might cross your path.

    As we navigate the rugged terrain, we’ll eventually reach Phuki Thenga, a charming little village alongside an alpine forest. It’s the perfect spot to refuel with a well-deserved lunch before tackling the challenging climb to Tengboche.

    But trust me, the effort is more than worth it. 

    As we arrive at Tengboche, we’ll be greeted by jaw-dropping views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Nuptse, and the mighty Mt. Everest towering in the distance. This sight will stay with us long after we leave the mountains behind.

    We’ll spend the night in Tengboche, home to the largest Buddhist Monastery. Keep your eyes and ears open for the monks’ evening ceremony. It will be an unforgettable experience that adds a unique cultural dimension to our trek.

    After indulging in a hearty breakfast of Tibetan bread and butter tea, with the mighty Himalayan peaks as our backdrop, we’ll hit the trail once again. 

    Our destination? The charming village of Dingboche.

    Our journey begins with a visit to Deboche, a village just beyond Tengboche. Here, we’ll encounter a remarkable sight: a classic mani wall adorned with hundreds of stones, each inscribed with the sacred Buddhist mantra ” Om mani padme hum.” 

    These mountains are a humbling reminder of the rich cultural heritage deeply ingrained in this area.

    As we continue our ascent, we’ll pass through the picturesque village of Pangboche, its stone staircases leading us ever closer to the majestic Ama Dablam.

    After four to five hours of trekking, our trail will lead us to Dingboche, a bustling hub in the heart of the Khumbu region. As we settle in for the evening, take a moment to soak in the the serenity of this mountain paradise. 

    Dingboche is the perfect end to another unforgettable day on the Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lakes.

  • Day 06: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche

    Today marks a crucial point in our Everest Base Camp trek as we allow our bodies to adjust to the increasing altitude. 

    Our options for today are as vast as the Himalayan panorama around us. We can trek to Nagarjun Hill, where the sweeping vistas of Makalu, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam await. 

    Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, why not explore the charming village of Chukhung?

    As the day draws to a close, there’s nothing quite like witnessing the sunset cast its golden glow over the rugged terrain of Dingboche. It’s moments like these that remind us why we joined this trek in the first place. This will be a journey of self-discovery, adventure, and connection to the natural world.

  • Day 07: Hike to Lobuche

    Today will take us deeper into the heart of the Khumbu region with surprises at every turn.

    We’ll behead towards Lobuche, and our route will go northwest. Along the way, we will follow the curves of the valley. As we ascend, the landscape reveals the raw beauty of the Himalayan range. One of the highlights of today’s trek is the ascent to Thukla Pass (4,800m). Here, we will pause to pay homage to the courageous mountaineers who dared to conquer these formidable summits. The memorial was constructed to honor mountaineers as a reminder of the risks and rewards of living in the mountains.

    Descending from Thukla Pass, we press on towards Lobuche.

    Despite its remote location, Lobuche welcomes weary travelers with open arms, offering a warm respite from the trail’s challenges. Upon reaching Lobuche, we settle into our cozy lodge. The locals will welcome us with warm hospitality.

    Tomorrow, we continue our journey towards Everest Base Camp, the moment we’ll have been waiting for!

  • Day 08: Hike to Gorakshep, then Everest Base Camp to Kalapatther, and head back to Gorakshep

    Today, we will hike to Gorakshep, visit EBC and Kala Patthar, and get back to Gorakshep.

    We will trek alongside Khumbu Glacier. Our path will also take us through rugged terrain, navigating scree-covered slopes. Despite the challenges, each step will bring us closer to our goal. Everest base camp.

    After we reach Gorakshep, we’ll continue until we reach EBC.

    Reaching base camp is a moment of triumph. We are surrounded by the buzz of activity as fellow trekkers and mountaineers share in the experience. Against the backdrop of the world’s highest mountain, we take a moment to reflect on our journey thus far. But our adventure doesn’t end here. With spirits high, we push onwards to Kalapather, a popular point that offers crystal-clear views of Mt. Everest. 

    After a moment, we’ll retrace our steps to Gorakshep, where we’ll spend the night.

  • Day 10: Hike to Thangnak Kharka via Cho La Pass

The journey to Cho La Pass is not for the faint of heart, but each tiny steps draws us closer to the pinnacle of our trek. We will take a pause to catch our breath and admire the awe-inspiring scenery along the way.

    But our adventure is far from over. As we descend from the pass, carefully navigating the rocky terrain, we press on towards our next destination.

    Thangnak Kharka.

    Here, we find solace and shelter for the night, resting our weary bodies and reflecting on the challenges we’ve overcome. As the sun sets on another day of our Everest adventure, we find ourselves filled with a sense of accomplishment.

    Today marks an exhilarating leg of our journey as we venture towards the captivating Gokyo Lakes. 

    After breakfast, we’ll begin a mesmerizing walk through the ethereal landscapes of the Gokyo Valley.

    As we trek through the mist-shrouded terrain, the rugged beauty of the mountains reveals a panorama of snow-capped peaks.

    Our path meanders through rocky outcrops and glacial formations, leading us closer to our destination. Our anticipation builds as we approach Gokyo, a village located around the pristine shores of Gokyo Tso, a jewel among the Gokyo Lakes. As we arrive, the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding lakes will leave us in awe. 

    We retire to our boots for today and spend the night in Gokyo.

    The Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri trek is a renowned journey through the Khumbu Region of Nepal. 

    Today’s trail leads to Gokyo Ri, also known as Gokyo Peak (5357m). It’s a day hike offering panoramic views of the Himalayan giants, including Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8188m), and Mt. Makalu (8485m). 

    The primary highlight of today’s trek will be Gokyo Lake, also known as Dudh Pokahari. It spans an area of 42.9 hectares. 

    It is followed by Thonak Lake, one of the largest lakes at 62 hectares; Gyazumpa Lake, which covers 29 hectares; Tanjung Lake, which spans 17 hectares; Ngojumba Lake, which covers 14 hectares; and Longbanga Lake. 

    Altogether, you’ll explore six pristine freshwater lakes. These lakes have a religious and cultural significance to Hindu and Buddhist followers.

    After a leisurely hike of approximately four hours, we will finally arrive in Dhole. As the sun sets, we retire to our cozy lodge.

  • Day 14: Hike from Dhole to Monjo via Namche Bazaar

    Starting from Dole, we’ll walk through dense forests and enjoy the sounds of nature. We stop at Photse Tenga to rest near a clear stream along the way. Continuing our trek, we’ll climb up to Mongla Danda for stunning mountain views before heading downhill to Namche Bazaar.

    In Namche, we’ll explore the market and savor a delicious meal before resuming our trek to Monjo. The trail offers glimpses of local life and beautiful scenery as we make our way to our overnight resting place.

    As we trek, we’ll encounter fellow travelers just beginning their adventure, reflecting on our own experiences. Despite the bittersweet feeling of the journey’s end, we’ll offer smiles and encouragement to those starting their trek.

    Arriving in Lukla, we’ll check into our hotels for the final night. The town buzzes with activity, and we can reflect on the past two weeks.

    Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Ri requires three permits. 

    These permits include:

    • Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit ($27 per person)
    • Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit (necessary for trekking and other activities within the national park) 
    • TIMS Card (to ensure safety and security along the trekking route)
